WWII’s affect on American Fashion

Dress is a shorthand expression of cultural history. The 1940’s fashions demonstrate what was going on in the United States at that time. Within America’s culture, fashion changes can be seen in the political, economic, and domestic subcultures. The three influence each other, and the fashions worn and left behind leave us a clear impression of the history of that decade.
